Magpie

Privacy Policy

Last updated 17 October 2026
The short version: Magpie collects no data. Your clips stay on your device (and, if you turn on sync, in your own private iCloud). No account, no analytics, no ads.

Magpie ("we", "the app") is a clipboard manager: it keeps the things you copy, organizes them into boards and lets you paste them again, including from the Magpie Keyboard. This policy explains what data Magpie handles and how.

Your clips

Clips, boards and settings are stored on your device, in storage shared only between Magpie and its own keyboard, share extension and widgets. There is no Magpie account and no Magpie server, and nothing you save is uploaded to us.

Magpie reads your clipboard only while you are using the app (when you tap Paste on the "New copy spotted" card), when you save from the share sheet or Shortcuts, or when you tap Save on the Magpie Keyboard. Content that iOS marks as a password or one-time code is skipped.

Private iCloud sync (Magpie Pro)

If you turn on iCloud sync, your clips and boards are stored in your own private iCloud database, managed by Apple under your Apple ID. We cannot access it. Turning sync off stops it; you can remove the data in iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud.

The Magpie Keyboard

iOS asks you to allow "Full Access" for the keyboard so it can read the clips you saved and the clipboard when you tap Save. The keyboard contains no networking code and never records what you type.

Smart actions

Clean and Extract run entirely on your device. Apple Intelligence actions (summarize, fix grammar, rewrite, bullet list) use Apple's on-device model. Translate uses Apple's Translation framework, governed by Apple's privacy policy; we receive nothing. Text grab from screenshots and photos uses on-device text recognition, and Magpie only sees the images you choose.

Photos

Magpie asks for permission to add to your photo library only when you choose to save an image clip there. It never reads your library.

Purchases

Magpie Pro is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive only the purchase status needed to unlock Pro; we never see your payment details or Apple ID.
